USA Today: We're not marketers, obviously
(I'm looking for alternatives to the paper's new downer of a slogan: "We're all in this together.")
An independent journal about the Gannett Co. and the news industry's digital transition
Jim says: "Proceed with caution; this is a free-for-all comment zone. I try to correct or clarify incorrect information. But I can't catch everything. Please keep your posts focused on Gannett and media-related subjects. Note that I occasionally review comments in advance, to reject inappropriate ones. And I ignore hostile posters, and recommend you do, too."

With all the money that Moon & Co are spending over there, you would think they can come out with a real marketing campaign!!!
ReplyDeleteHow about "We were first and now we are last"
I hate to think what those morons in the tower paid for that slogan.
ReplyDeleteHow about:
"If it's news, it's news to us!"
Maybe they should outsource to India for the new slogan!
ReplyDelete"USA TODAY: We're not marketers, obviously"
ReplyDeleteAfter today's announcement of what the top dogs got paid, how about:
ReplyDeleteWe were in this together...until we realized we could do better without you.
The 'we're all in this together' slogan is strange, to say the least. I don't understand what this says to readers or to advertisers. To me, it stresses sameness and not differentiation. By it's nature, the slogan gives people a reason not to purchase the newspaper, visit the website or buy advertising. Seems to me, the slogan could just as easily been 'we're just like everybody else.'
