Ex-USATer ordered to pay fines in anthrax suit

Why doesn't USA Today just "hire" her as a consultant and compensate her accordingly?
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure the judge would see around that sort of scheme -- and the plantiff's attorneys would definitely be on the lookout for something like that, too.
ReplyDeleteDid Gannett even offer to pay, or assist in paying, the fines?
ReplyDeleteI suspect the paper's top editor, Ken Paulson, would have pushed Gannett to do that. But whether the company would agree to write, essentially, a blank check is another matter. In any case, the judge wouldn't allow it.
