  1. Too bad all those nice qualities don't seem to be required in a CEO...

  2. Nonsense. Just a bunch of rambling nonsense. This person doesn't deserve to be a CEO of anything.

Is anybody really proud of this? Does it make you proud to work for Gannett? To get 1% raises -- to be told you're not doing enough. By this guy?

  3. "... an individual that, uh, really can educate themself in a multidisciplinary environment .... "

You say he gets millions of dollars a year????

Oh wait, I get it. He may sound like an illiterate, but he gets the big bucks because of the great results he produces for his company.

What, the company has lost two-thirds of its value in the last three years?

  4. ...I wouldn't try to defend him...one bit. But this nonsense has been promulgated for years. The media analysts beat down the expectations...and the earnings per share drops. Advertising was and is the fuel...his demeanor and lack of corporate aplomb is secondary.

Why else would Watson, Sherlock, Coleman, and Stier retire? I thought that Sue Clark and Leslie were to turn things around???

    Time for that party!

  5. Call for his resignation...however you can do that. In fact, call for the top three corporate folks to go...a write-in protest to the board of directors, and letters to the major private equity owners.

    Make it happen.

  6. The only right-sizing this company needs is in the corporate office and at management levels throughout the entire operation. Start with this buffoon of a CEO, and take back his puffed up bonuses and salary.

  9. This is why Gannett is a terrible company and why things like "MOMS" is a priority at, at least, one of the company's properties.

The answer to the non-trick question should have been in the ballpark of moxy, drive, ambition, passion and/or enthusiasm. It's really basic stuff but so is the idea that if you want a career in journalism you need to learn how to construct a story.

    DUH, Craig. *smh*

I could have done a better job with THAT interview. Hell, my 7-year-old niece could have done better.

    Good one, Jim.
