Top 10 states (graphic, left) driving traffic to Gannett Blog in the past 30 days. For newcomers, some background on what might be a surprising line-up:
1. Virginia. The main offices for both Gannett Corporate and USA Today are in a McLean, Va., building (above), looking more and more like a glass-and-marble mausoleum for an industry that once was.
2. New Jersey. Lots of news in recent days about the Courier-Post in that state's Cherry Hill.
4. Arizona. It's a big Gannett employment base, with The Arizona Republic and its sister business, NBC TV station KPNX-TV.

Jim says: "Proceed with caution; this is a free-for-all comment zone. I try to correct or clarify incorrect information. But I can't catch everything. Please keep your posts focused on Gannett and media-related subjects. Note that I occasionally review comments in advance, to reject inappropriate ones. And I ignore hostile posters, and recommend you do, too."
