Neuharth on love, jerks -- and 20-20 hindsight

Like rubbernecking past a car wreck, I can't resist octogenarian retired CEO Al Neuharth's weekly column every Friday in USA Today.

For a man accused of lovin' and leavin' 'em, Neuharth bizarrely weighs in on Feb. 4-10 -- "Dump Your Significant Jerk Week.'' Tempting even more ridicule from Gannett Blog, our favorite 83-year-old overly tanned retired media mogul then quotes insane radio talk show host "Dr." Laura Schlessinger thusly: "Today, folks don't seem to wait long enough to find out if they have a 'love' or a 'jerk' before they 'hook up' or 'shack up,' or get 'knocked up.'"

  1. On the contrary, I didn't find this column "bizarre." By all accounts, Al is one of the biggest jerks to be found, anywhere. He speaks with authority on the topic!
