Law firm discloses Gannett wage-and-hour probe

Minneapolis law firm Nichols Kaster & Anderson says it has accelerated a previously undisclosed investigation into possible wage-and-hour violations within Gannett. Attorney Tim Selander says his firm began its inquiry in January after reading Gannett Blog. The investigation moved into higher gear as a result of newsroom overtime abuse allegations at the Courier-Post in Cherry Hill, N.J., Selander told me today.

I've asked Gannett for comment.

I'm not endorsing this particular firm, or its work. I have no financial stake in the outcome of any case Selander may build. Also, keep in mind that other law firms may also be investigating Gannett. Such firms typically try to build class-action cases where attorneys get a cut -- often a big one! -- of any financial award. As always, do your homework before signing any documents.

So, FYI only: Selander wants to hear from any Gannett employee, "past or present," interested in talking to him. He asks that you contact him by e-mail at selander@nka.com, or by telephone at 877-448-0492, extension 281.

  1. Even if they budget 5 years and two dozen lawyers, they'll only find the tip of the iceberg. They should run ads on Gannettblog, and late-night commercials in every Gannett city, like the mesothelioma chasers do!

I can't wait to see the over-dramatized video on that one!

Please keep your posts focused on Gannett and media-related subjects. Note that I occasionally review comments in advance, to reject inappropriate ones. And I ignore hostile posters, and recommend you do, too."
