Is Sue Clark-Johnson still retiring -- or not?

Update at 1:46 p.m. PT: Company spokeswoman Tara Connell e-mailed a moment ago: "Just saw the blog. Of course Sue is retiring in May. . . . there was no intent to confuse."

The company's statement, announcing Robert Dickey's promotion to president of the newly renamed U.S. Community Publishing division, says of the woman he's replacing: "Sue Clark-Johnson was named chair of U.S. Community Publishing. She was president of the Newspaper Division and has announced plans to retire in May." (Emphasis, mine. How about something more emphatic to avoid any confusion, like: ". . . and is retiring in May.")

In an e-mail, I asked company spokeswoman Tara Connell: "Is she still retiring in May? The language in this statement isn't clear."

Connell referred me back to the statement. Hmmmm. . .
