In quarterly results, the tail wags the dog

And the tail, as I've been saying, is made up of four states: Arizona, California, Nevada and Florida, which together accounted for about 40% of the decline in ad revenue at Gannett's community newspapers in the fourth quarter, this Associated Press story says, after fourth-quarter earnings were released this morning. Worth noting: Those three western states are legacies of retiring Newspaper Division President Sue Clark-Johnson.

Jim says: "Proceed with caution; this is a free-for-all comment zone. I try to correct or clarify incorrect information. But I can't catch everything. Please keep your posts focused on Gannett and media-related subjects. Note that I occasionally review comments in advance, to reject inappropriate ones. And I ignore hostile posters, and recommend you do, too."
