Have Gannett editors lost their jobs in protest?

I ask because for the second time in 15 months, the editor of The Los Angeles Times has been fired in a dispute over budget cuts ordered by his publisher.

Can anyone offer an example from inside Gannett? Use this link to e-mail your reply. See Tipsters Anonymous Policy in the sidebar, upper right. Or leave a note in the comments section, below.

  1. The Gannett editors I've met at corporate functions not only drink the Kool Aid, they really like it. Sound journalism has been second to corporate whims a long time, any editors with a backbone or inclined to leave left a long time ago.

  2. My regional editor-type told me we have to answer to Wall Street and corporate and he hopes to do some journalism along the way.

    Painful reality set in.

Don't restrict your question to the Info Center. Deptment heads in other disciplines are leaving over budget cuts and unreasonable revenue expectations. They may not say they are, but it is a contributing factor.

Please keep your posts focused on Gannett and media-related subjects. Note that I occasionally review comments in advance, to reject inappropriate ones. And I ignore hostile posters, and recommend you do, too."
