Here's a ginormous thank you to my readers!

I've been amazed by the response to Gannett Blog since emerging from stealth mode (hah! there's a Web 2.0 term for you!) a month ago. More than 1,000 Gannett employees now visit weekly to learn more about the company, to connect with each other, and to share ideas on how to turn around the nation's top newspaper publisher. The most encouraging sign? Nearly 70% of you are return visitors (the big blue slice in the chart, above), according to a new analysis by Google Analytics. So, thank you -- and please keep coming back.

Confidential to grouchy-looking Wendell J. Van Lare (left), chief Gannett union bust -- err, senior vice president of labor relations: See? There are all kinds of ways employees can organize themselves!

E-mail feedback, link suggestions, tips, snarky letters, etc.; see Tipsters Anonymous Policy in the sidebar, upper right. Or leave a note in the comments section, below.

  1. The blog is great, but I think your success has at least as much to do with the fact that Gannett is such an uncommunicative company as it does with the content of the blog itself. If management fostered any kind of internal dialog, employees wouldn't have to sneak off to another source to get information.

Jim says: "Proceed with caution; this is a free-for-all comment zone. I try to correct or clarify incorrect information. But I can't catch everything. Please keep your posts focused on Gannett and media-related subjects. Note that I occasionally review comments in advance, to reject inappropriate ones. And I ignore hostile posters, and recommend you do, too."
