The Cincinnati Post, in a joint operating agreement with The Cincinnati Enquirer, publishes its last edition a week from today -- giving the Enquirer (left) full control over the Cincinnati market. And yet, blogger Newsache says today, "the demise of the Post will bring no windfall to the Enquirer," Publisher Margaret Buchanan told Gannett employees during recent meetings about work, post-Post. "Buchanan said in those meetings that the Enquirer expects revenues to decline by as much as 8% in 2008,'' Newsache says, "so the cost-cutting is likely to continue, as they say, till morale improves."
Gannett hastened the death of the Post and its sister edition, the Kentucky Post, telling partner E.W. Scripps three years ago it would not renew their 1977 JOA when it expired Dec. 31, 2007.

Jim says: "Proceed with caution; this is a free-for-all comment zone. I try to correct or clarify incorrect information. But I can't catch everything. Please keep your posts focused on Gannett and media-related subjects. Note that I occasionally review comments in advance, to reject inappropriate ones. And I ignore hostile posters, and recommend you do, too."
