The Tulsa center, which could employ more than 500 workers, is part of Gannett's money-saving consolidation of more than 60 customer-service centers into three or four locations. Looks like there are two other big ones, in Greenville, S.C., and in Louisville, Ky.

Jim says: "Proceed with caution; this is a free-for-all comment zone. I try to correct or clarify incorrect information. But I can't catch everything. Please keep your posts focused on Gannett and media-related subjects. Note that I occasionally review comments in advance, to reject inappropriate ones. And I ignore hostile posters, and recommend you do, too."

20 Jobs were lost in Brevard County (Florida Today).
ReplyDeleteJim, as far as I know, there is no call center in Asheville. The call center was combined with Greenville, S.C., and based there. Not sure how many jobs lost...
ReplyDeleteP-cola was one of the first to go to the COE-Greenville. About 12 positions were eliminated, luckily 3 employees were re-assigned.
ReplyDeleteBusiness is business, but what was really harsh was the Publisher did not recognize or Thank any of those Reps for their years of service---this man has *ZERO* Class and absolutly no People-skills.
As part of the COE - I feel Greenville will be closed because they are the smallest of the remaining two. Tulsa and Louisville. They just wont admit it. A few of the COE managers nit-pick about the little things. Hostile work environment in my opinion.
