Jim says: "Proceed with caution; this is a free-for-all comment zone. I try to correct or clarify incorrect information. But I can't catch everything. Please keep your posts focused on Gannett and media-related subjects. Note that I occasionally review comments in advance, to reject inappropriate ones. And I ignore hostile posters, and recommend you do, too."

ReplyDeleteDoes anyone have any more specifics on midwest papers, specifically Minnesota, Iowa and Wisconsin?
ReplyDeletePsh. What a desperate sounding comment.

Does anyone know what happens to the exit interviews that you give to HR when you quit?
ReplyDelete11:28p.m.: NADT (Not a darn thing) apparently. If those exit interviews were actually read, some of the current problems Gannett faces would not exist.....
ReplyDeleteAt the Gannett paper I used to work for, the exit interviews were called an "antiquated practice" and had stopped being done at all. Apparently they had decided to completely give up on even the impression of listening to the employees.
ReplyDeleteNo real exit interview where I worked. But there was a long questionnaire handed out.
ReplyDeleteExit interviews are used primarily to make sure you don't come back and sue the company after you leave. They really don't care what you say as long as it isn't - my boss was harassing me or some other type of grievance.
ReplyDeleteIf you do decide to sue later, they can come back and say "gee, you didn't mention that in your exit interview."
Ditto on the desperate cry for information re: Minnesota. Yeah, that means St. Cloud.
ReplyDeleteGannett could make some cash contracting out the perpetrators of this waiting game to the military for use at Gitmo.
