Fizzy as in soft drinks. The new board member is Charles B. Fruit, senior advisor in marketing, strategy and innovation for the Coca-Cola Co., according to this just-out press release.
CEO Craig Dubow notes his marketing background: “Chuck’s marketing experience with The Coca-Cola Company will be a tremendous asset for Gannett as we move forward with our strategic plan,” said Craig A. Dubow, Gannett’s chairman, president and chief executive officer. “We are extremely pleased that Chuck has chosen to join Gannett’s Board.”
But Gannett Blog also notes his connection to the television industry: Fruit also is a director at TiVo.
By our count, Fruit is the fourth new director chosen under Dubow's watch. With his election, the board now has nine members. Of them, just two have media backgrounds: Dubow and retired Associated Press CEO Louis D. Boccardi. Question for Gannett Blog readers: Is that lack of greater media representation on the board a good thing or a bad thing in terms of GCI's finding a way forward?
