Hey Lafayette here we are no better. The queen is now with us an already drowning in the community statue. EVERY manager in charge is new and have no clue what this community is about to do. When the queen is here where is she? There is better for this market and she will see when the competition sucks our advertisers right from under her nose. She has no clue how to get them because she is going at it the wrong way. There are too many new puppets here.
I'm reposting this. There was a news story about development in the downtown greenville area on the local NBC affiliate Tuesday. And they made sure to mention that the Greenville News building was for sale and would make an excellent site for something superb because of its location, this coming from someone at the chamber of commerce. Why don't we just sell all downtown newspaper sites and move them out next to the local landfill. We don't need any presence in the community any way right? This company would suck the life out of a freakin zombie, especially if they thought they could make a quick buck. Gannett sucks ass, and so do all those cronies that defend them!
If your building is being sold, you can bet your booty that there will be many reporters out of a job by way of reorganization. Worth sticking around to find out if I'm right or wrong? That's a reporter's personal decision.
They made out handsomely selling the softball field next to the CP to Hilton. That was when the market was in the tank. Judging by all the vacant space leased out, businesses like the site. New metro station will only entice. We dont need half the offices corporate built for itself, so why wouldnt they sell? It will be the last, biggest gem in Gannett's portfolio. Complete with non working helipad.

Actually that sounds a lot like the location of the former Home News Tribune in East Brunswick, NJ. Depending on the wind direction you could smell the dump like you were standing on top of it.
Jim says: "Proceed with caution; this is a free-for-all comment zone. I try to correct or clarify incorrect information. But I can't catch everything. Please keep your posts focused on Gannett and media-related subjects. Note that I occasionally review comments in advance, to reject inappropriate ones. And I ignore hostile posters, and recommend you do, too."

DeleteYou'd know about that, wouldnt you?
DeleteOnly difference here in Rochester is that everyone in charge has been here for a while, and they still don't have a clue!
DeleteCincinnati - that's no queen, that's the Little Dutch Boy.
DeleteI see that Cindy McCurry Ross has been dubbed Louisiana Regional Editor. I'm sure that's a job with some purpose.

ReplyDelete"Why don't we just sell all downtown newspaper sites ..." That's the plan.
DeleteDo they make everyone portable journalists after the real estate is disposed of, or will they just aggregate everything from elsewhere?

DeleteWork our of your home. Staff meetings at Starbucks. Sounds pretty cushy.
DeleteDoesn't Greenville have a call center operation?
DeleteThey could make a mint selling the Crystal Palace.
ReplyDeleteNot true—and if it were, they'd do it in a heartbeat.
