Members of the National Union of Journalists at The Argus are once more protesting plans by Gannett's U.K. division, Newsquest, to move copy editing to a page production hub 80 miles away at another site. The transfer involves six jobs. This second strike is set for Tuesday and Wednesday. Union members staged their first strike Nov. 18-19.

Hail comrades across the sea!
ReplyDeleteDon't give up the ship. Don't let Greedy Gannett walk all over you.
Stand up for your rights as workers and human beings.
After all, Gracia Martore, the Gannett prez and likely to be the next CEO, says Gannett is making a lot of money off you folks.
It's unfortunate that greed meisters like Martore always want more to stuff into their pockets.
I hope you can get the Labour Party to actively take up your cause and pressure Gannett to back off.
These Brits are showing us the way to do this. Go slows, flu emergencies and withdrawal of excellence is the way to beat this corporate greed.
