Mark Lundahl joined the Reno Gazette-Journal as a news reporter in March 1987 and held numerous titles during his 23 years there -- including assistant city editor, city editor, assistant managing editor, senior editor for news and multimedia and, finally, managing editor.
He died Tuesday after a brief illness.

ReplyDeleteI didn't know him but I can only imagine how difficult this must be for his family and friends, as his passing comes right before Christmas.

ReplyDeleteOut of respect for his family, I'm trying to keep this thread focused on Mark and his work.
ReplyDeleteIn the work sense, I knew Mark for his entire tenure at the RGJ. Always very professional, very focused in almost any crisis, and he excelled as a real "Old School" journalist. Sorry to learn of his passing.
ReplyDeleteMark was a really, really, really great person -- an editor who valued the balance between work and home life. It's been a decade since I worked for him, but he'll always stand out as a great guy and mentor.
ReplyDeleteFrank Mullen also did a fitting memorial story in Sunday's paper, http://www.rgj.com/article/20101226/NEWS/12260347.
It was an honor working with Mark. From him I learned that you can manage people and get things done in a humane, gentle way.

ReplyDeleteMark was a very nice person. Working in another department, I didn't spend much time with him. People that worked closely with him are feeling a deep sense of loss. He did make a positive impact on many good people.
