"People who get up every day and go to work have a right to good health insurance for themselves and their families.''
-- Gannett board of directors member
Donna Shalala, in
a statement to The New York Times last March, following Congressional passage of historic health-care reform legislation.
LOL.
ReplyDeleteObviously she's out of touch with what the company she supposedly oversees is doing!
ReplyDeleteGetting switched to Delta Dental, for example, was hardly an improvement. It just means more expenses for employees whose pay is frozen and reduced by furloughs.
Way to go Donna!
Well I think GCI health care coverage is quite good, except for Caremark.
ReplyDeleteGreat post Jim!
ReplyDeleteGannet and good health care don't even belong in the same sentence. Why is it so many of my co workers use their spouses plans if we have such great coverage?
ReplyDeleteHealthcare is not a "right" and I don't believe she said anything about who pays for said healthcare.
ReplyDeleteI wonder what Madam Shalala's opinion is on transitional pay?

"Sha-la-la-la, sha-la-la-la-la, GET A JOB!"
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of Delta Dental, my dentist's insurance staff says it ranks at the bottom of the barrel.
ReplyDeleteOf course Delta Dental is at the bottom of the barrel. That's why Gannett picked it for the peons. Anybody know what the suits get?
