Phoenix | Metromix, yes. But where's the link?

Gannett's web-based entertainment syndicate runs a Phoenix site. And The Arizona Republic -- Gannett's No. 2 paper by circulation -- features an out-of-the-way link near the bottom of its Things To Do page. But can anyone point me to a Metromix link on the Republic's homepage? That's the location where it typically appears on Gannett's other community papers.

  1. In the last week, I pointed out other instances where Moms and Metromix have disappeared from the main Web pages. This has got to be deliberate. Something is going on.

  2. Phoenix's entertainment and nightlife section had a long head start, so when Metromix came to town, Phoenix's section was far better. Operating both was and is a redundant use of resources. It makes more sense to hold onto the local branding and cut Metromix loose.

  3. Big baby Mike Coleman kicks and screams to bigger baby Bob Dickey and he gets what he wants.

According to Bob Dickey, "Phoenix is a top newspaper and therefore they can do whatever they want". In fact, Zidich and Coleman are proud that they do not have to follow anyone. Meanwhile all the smaller papers, are forced to use the shit coming from corporate.

Another special treatment for Big Bob Dickeys AZ team.

  4. Special treatment because Phoenix went online in 1995 while the majority of other newspapers in and out of Gannett stayed on the sidelines waiting for the "fad" to go away. Special treatment because Phoenix had an online brand and a viable product long before Gannett bought the Republic. It is successful, despite Gannett's best efforts to screw it up.
